Santiago Ramón y Cajal (1852–1934) was a Spanish pathologist, histologist, and neuroscientist who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1906. He is regarded as the father of modern neuroscience for his original and pioneering research on the microscopic structure of the brain.

At the opening of the international congress organized by NÖROM on November 26, and with the support of the Spanish Embassy, a talk on Cajal will be delivered. Following the talk, an exhibition featuring 25 of Cajal’s original brain cell drawings will be inaugurated with the participation of the Ambassador of Spain to Turkey, Cristina Latorre Sancho.
